A Makerspace is an area where students can come together to experience hands-on design and creation. Most of the time the emphasis is on creation using technology, but not always. It is not unusual to find real "physical" tools like wrenches or pliers in a makerspace. The basic idea is to encourage students to think creatively and to offer them a space to tinker either individually or in a collaborative group. Most importantly, students take the initiative to learn and to create a product that genuinely engages them. Through trial and error, students may experience success or failure, learning to problem-solve and collaborate with others along the way.
